Today, Tania of Soapish demonstrates an adorable soap packaging option for Valentine’s Day. The project shows you how to create a hangable bar that’s a great way to gift your product or display it in a retail store. Tania really went the extra mile and included a free “Cootie Catcher” printable (Get it? Soap catches the cooties! Haven’t heard that term since about 6th grade #throwback), along with a video tutorial at the bottom of the post. Be sure to check out more Soapish videos here on Tania’s YouTube channel. – A.M. Hello! I’m Tania, creator of Soapish in Los Angeles California. I just love Valentine’s Day! Not only is it my wedding anniversary, it’s a great occasion to gift bath and body products to everyone I care about! Part of the excitement of making my own products is coming up with creative ways to wrap and package everything. Today I’m going to demonstrate one fun way to wrap soaps for gifting. It has quite a few steps, but once you make one, you’ll see that its a pretty simple process with awesome results. Let’s get started! Things you’ll need: Pencil Ruler Scissors Hole punch Glue or tape Card stock Colored paper Twine Hole reinforcers (optional) Stickers Stamps Imagination The first thing you’ll want to do is measure the width of your bar soap from side to side. Next, you’ll need to measure your bar slightly over halfway up the front, around the bottom, and a little over halfway up the back. Cut a piece of thick paper or card stock to those measurements. Set the bar in the center of the cut paper and fold the front and the back sides up around the bar. Crease the folds well so that the card stock “hugs” the soap. Cut a strip of paper long enough to wrap all the way around your bar like a band (colored and patterned papers look really cute). Fold it around your bar and again, crease the corners well. Remove the band from the bar. Punch a hole on each short side of the band near the top edge. I recommend adding a hole reinforcer to each punched hole. This may not be necessary if your paper is thick. Next, cut a piece of yarn, twine, or ribbon. The length will depend on how wide your bars are (I used a 15 inch piece). Thread each end of the twine through each punched hole and tie a knot to secure them. Apply glue to the underside of the band and wrap it around the card stock covered bar of soap. Secure the back seam with glue or tape. For this soap, I made a “Cootie catcher” printable. Just print the page, cut out the hearts and stick them right to the front of the bar. You can personalize these and get as crafty as you’d like! Apply stickers, stamps, glitter, or catchy soap phrases to the front of your cute bar soap hangers! These soaps are so fun to gift! They’re great for teachers, spouses, bosses and friends. The perfect gift to leave “hanging around” on doorknobs and hooks just waiting to surprise someone. I really like this method of cutting a bottom piece for bar soaps before a band is applied. As most experienced soap makers know, bar soaps continually shrink, causing bands to get loose over time. This method prevents the band from sliding off of your bars! I can’t wait to see what you all come up with! ~Tania The post Hangable Valentine Soap Packaging with Tania of Soapish appeared first on Soap Queen. | |
